Phlebotomy and EKG Training - Please Note: Spring 2010 Phlebotomy Classes are Full
Phlebotomists obtain blood from patients for laboratory analysis. Students will learn: to identify potential venipuncture sites, the cellular components of blood and their functions, the mechanisms for anticoagulants, and necessary precautions for sample transport and infection control. Learn to set up and run a 12-lead EKG tracing. CPR training is included. Clinical and classroom instruction are required and is held for 18 weeks on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Lyman Hall High School and off site lab. A pretest, interview and high school diploma are required for acceptance into this program (see below for testing dates and information). Information about applying for certification will be distributed upon completion of course. Certification is student’s responsibility.
